Shop Vac Dust Filter for Your Computer Case

Can’t find a replacement dust filter for your computer case? Time to get creative. Here’s the story, once in a blue moon I’ll break down and clean the dust filter in my computer case. Set those dust bunnies free! It’s a simple matter: pull off the case bezel, pop off the filter holder, remove the foam filter, and then wash, dry, style, and replace. This time, however, bits of the filter were parting company with the mother ship. I don’t know, maybe it’s the sea air on the Wet Coast. And maybe it wasn’t made to last ten years—good computer cases are expensive, so why replace them if you don’t need to? They’re refillable, don’t you know.
Time for a new filter. Easy, right? Just go down to the local computer shop and buy a new one. Dang! No replacements available. I briefly consider a trip to an upholstery shop. Perhaps a very small pillow could be stuffed in. Nah, probably not the right kind of foam.
As I was engaging in one of my favorite pass-times—ogling shop vacs at Home Depot—I noticed a replacement foam filter used for wet vac duties. Hmm, me thinks, with a little trimming…
…dust bunnies are officially on holiday (’til the next time). Wasn’t that fun?
